When choosing summer gear, compare ventilation, certified protection and fit in your riding position. A fabric name or large mesh panels alone cannot establish the protective performance of the complete garment.
Jacket and trousers: read the full label
Check the garment classification and included protectors. Rev’it explains EN 17092 classes: A, AA and AAA have different requirements; B and C serve different functions and are not equivalent to a complete garment with impact and abrasion protection.
We do not translate level 2 armour into “50% more energy absorbed”, or call a material indestructible. Check the standard, covered area and compatibility. A back-protector pocket does not mean a back protector is included.
Ventilation you can use
- Try closures and vents with gloves on before setting off.
- Check whether a waterproof liner covers the mesh and where you will store it when removed.
- Assess stop-start city use separately from open roads; we do not promise cooling at a fixed temperature.
- With your hands in the riding position, check that shoulder, elbow and knee armour stays correctly placed.
Gloves and footwear
Check product certification, coverage and fastening as well as ventilation. Do not dismiss gloves simply for lacking leather palms, or assume leather alone makes them safe: the complete product and its tests matter. Check that you can operate the controls and properly fasten your gloves and boots.
Rev’it's certification guidance distinguishes EN 13594 for gloves and EN 13634 for footwear from EN 17092 for garments. Read the specific product label and documentation.
Heat: plan your stops too
The Spanish DGT recommends suitable gear, hydration and avoiding the hottest hours. Plan water and safe stops. Cooling accessories do not replace that plan or justify continuing when you are not fit to ride.
For evaporative vests or damp neck tubes, follow the manufacturer's instructions and check compatibility with your kit. We do not claim that a damp neck tube cools blood, or guarantee cooling duration. We do not recommend adjusting water reservoirs or accessories while riding.
Budget: add what is missing
Compare the jacket, trousers, gloves and footwear, plus any back protector or other items excluded from each offer. The cheapest option can change once those parts are added. For specific examples, see our summer jackets; check the selected version's price and availability.
