Women's motorcycle jackets 2026: four options for commuting and touring

Published onOctober 16, 2026

Choosing a women's motorcycle jacket involves more than selecting a size. Where does the elbow armour sit when you reach for the bars? Can you close the chest comfortably? Does removing the liner leave too much room? For commuting and touring in changeable weather, we compare four current textile options priced from €229.99 to €339.99. Their rain layers and included armour make the most useful distinctions.

This is a documentary comparison without our own physical tests. Prices were checked in official European stores on 16 October 2026; country, colour and size affect price and availability. The selection focuses on road touring in cool or wet conditions. Hot-weather mesh and sport leather require a different shortlist.

Quick comparison

Women's model Reference price Garment class Included shoulder/elbow armour Rain protection
Richa Taurus Women €229.99 AA D3O level 1 Fixed LTZ membrane
Dainese Tempest 4 D-Dry Woman €299 A Pro-Armor level 2 D-Dry membrane
Rev'it Outback 5 H2O Ladies €299.99 AA SEEFLEX level 2 Removable hydratex liner
Richa Eternity Women €339.99 AA D3O level 1 Removable waterproof layer worn inside or outside

All four have removable thermal insulation. Budget for a compatible back protector separately and check the exact contents before ordering.

Richa Taurus Women: the lowest price here

The Taurus Women is explicitly part of Richa's 2026 collection. It combines a fixed membrane, removable insulation and adjustable chest ventilation. The listed size range is XS–4XL, subject to stock.

We would consider it for regular commuting and between-season rides when cost matters. Its waterproof layer stays installed when rain threatens; the trade-off is that it also stays in place when the weather warms up.

Strength: class AA below €230. Consider: included armour is level 1, so price a compatible upgrade if you want level 2. Try it with your actual winter clothing before assuming it covers every season.

Dainese Tempest 4 D-Dry Woman: touring with level 2 armour

Dainese lists the women's Tempest 4 as a new arrival in its current catalogue. It specifies women's tailoring, chest ventilation and adjustment at the waist, sleeves, cuffs and collar. It is also prepared to be worn over Smart Air; that airbag is separate and its fit instructions still apply.

We would try it for road use in cooler months if having level 2 shoulder and elbow armour included is a priority. Note that the garment is class A, while the other three declare AA. The garment class and the armour level describe different things; one does not replace the other.

Strength: adjustment and included armour. Consider: compare its class and fit with similarly priced alternatives rather than choosing by brand alone.

Rev'it Outback 5 H2O Ladies: separate layers for travel

The Outback 5 H2O Ladies uses three-layer construction with removable waterproof and thermal liners. It offers arm, waist and hem adjustment, plus chest and lower-arm ventilation. The European reference checked is the women's FJT436.

We would consider it for trips through changing conditions if you are comfortable managing liners. Removing waterproofing provides an option the Taurus lacks, but you must decide when to reinstall it and where to pack the layers you take out.

Strength: class AA and level 2 armour at around €300. Consider: do not confuse the jacket's construction with the Outback 5 trousers. The jacket listing describes removable hydratex; we do not describe it as an external rain shell.

Richa Eternity Women: rain protection inside or outside

Richa also identifies the Eternity Women as 2026 collection. Unlike the Taurus, its removable waterproof layer is designed to be worn inside or outside. It also offers removable insulation and listed sizes XS–4XL.

We would consider it for trips where placing the rain layer over the shell is useful. At the checked prices, it costs €110 more than the Taurus. That buys a different layer arrangement rather than a higher garment class or higher-level included armour.

Strength: flexibility in where the waterproof layer sits. Consider: the extra cost and additional pieces to manage. Without comparable tests, we do not claim better ventilation, insulation or rain performance than the other jackets.

Check fit before buying

Try the jacket with the clothing you will actually use. Close it, reach forwards and reproduce your riding position. Check that you can reach the bars without pulling across the chest or shoulders. Repeat with and without the thermal liner.

  • Chest and waist: the zip should close without force. If you need excessive waist room to fit the chest, compare another cut.
  • Elbows: bend your arms and check that the protectors cover the elbows. Use any adjustment according to the manual.
  • Cuffs and gloves: try them together, including with your hands on the controls.
  • Hem and trousers: sit down, check coverage and verify that any connecting zip is compatible.
  • Back protector or airbag: try the jacket with your intended system, following the manufacturer's sizing and clearance instructions.

A listed size range does not guarantee stock, and a medium is not equivalent across brands. Consult the model's measurements and the seller's returns policy.

Which would we choose?

Our first shop comparison would be Taurus versus Outback 5: a €70 difference and two approaches to waterproofing. Start with Taurus if you want the lower price and a membrane that stays installed. Try Outback 5 if you prefer removable layers and level 2 armour included.

Add Eternity if wearing the waterproof layer outside meets a specific travel need. Try Tempest 4 if its cut fits you particularly well, while keeping its class A specification in mind.

There is no universal winner: a longer specification list cannot compensate for poor fit on your motorcycle. To complete your kit, see our winter glove comparison.
