The original Shark Spartan GT is a sport-touring full-face with an internal sun visor and optical class 1 face shield. Identify the model before buying: GT, GT Carbon, GT Pro and GT Pro Carbon are separate references. This review covers the original GT without assigning it the Pro's approval or weight.

Scope: documentary review updated on 17 October 2026 using Shark specifications/manuals and SHARP results. We have not physically tested the helmet or measured its noise insulation.

The key distinction: original GT versus GT Pro

The SHARP Spartan GT record identifies the fibreglass model, ECE 22.05, tested in August 2021 with a four-star rating. That result belongs to the named model and SHARP protocol; it must not be transferred to other variants sharing the family name.

Shark documents the GT Pro as ECE 22.06. If that approval is your requirement, check that the actual helmet and label identify the Pro. A listing grouping the whole family is insufficient. SHARP stars and type approval are different assessments, not interchangeable scores.

Fastening: check the specific version

Not every base GT can be described as micrometric. The official GT/GT Carbon E22-05 manual covers double-ring and Precise Lock fastenings. SHARP lists double D on its GT. Shark's HE7065EBLK listing also mentions a micrometric buckle in the description but double D in its summary. Ask the seller for a photograph of the actual fastening.

Visors, maintenance and communication

The Shark GT Blank listing describes an optical class 1 shield, internal sun visor, included Pinlock Max Vision and Sharktooth provision. Check that clearance stock includes the advertised accessories. We do not automatically transfer the Pro's Pinlock 120 specification to every GT.

A removable, washable interior helps with regular use. When trying it on, check sun visor clearance with glasses, operation of the shield lock with gloves and even contact from the padding. Two shell sizes alone cannot establish that your size is unnecessarily bulky.

Weight and noise without mixing measurements

SHARP lists 1.65 kg without specifying the size in that record; this is not a universal weight. Shark states 1,550 g for the first shell size of the cited GT Blank. These are not directly comparable figures and should not be replaced by a Pro Carbon measurement.

We do not give a noise figure without a linked test and verifiable conditions. Comparing helmets requires, at minimum, equivalent motorcycles, speeds, windscreens and measurement methods.

When to consider it against the Pro

  • An original GT offer: check fit, manufacturing date, condition and spare parts before judging the saving. A price shown without stock is not an available purchase.
  • Similar budgets: try the Pro and compare exact approval and equipment. Do not pay for an apparent weight advantage based on another size or variant.
  • Frequent motorway use: avoid choosing on a quietness promise alone; helmet, fit and motorcycle work together.

Verdict and editorial score

8/10 for the original GT as a touring proposition: we value the visor package and maintainable interior, with its SHARP result treated separately. The 22.05 generation, reference differences and accessory availability condition its current appeal. This is not an automatic recommendation over the Pro or a score calculated from its four stars.
