The Shoei GT-Air 3 is the third generation of Shoei's touring helmet, with a QSV-2 sun visor and Pinlock, ready for the SRL 3 intercom: €599 to €759. It is the safe bet for travelling: quiet (98 dB) and stable; it is not cheap, but it is built to last. Score: 8.5/10.
AIM shell and 1,680 g
The shell is AIM (Advanced Integrated Matrix), a multilayer fibreglass and organic-fibre laminate, made in three shell sizes. Weight sits around 1,680 g (size M, Bennetts) — press tests range between 1,574 and 1,800 g. It is not the lightest tourer, but the balance and stability at speed compensate for it.
Visor and sun visor
The main visor comes with the Pinlock Evo MaxVision anti-fog insert in the box, plus the internal QSV-2 sun visor that now drops 5 mm lower than on the GT-Air 2 — a detail that matters when the sun is low. Homologation is ECE 22.06.
Ventilation and noise
Ventilation relies on a chin vent (open/closed) and an upper two-port intake with three positions, with outlets on the top of the shell. In terms of noise, Champion Helmets measures it around 98 dB, in the quiet band of our scale.
Communication and closure
Its big argument for touring is the dedicated Sena SRL 3 intercom, integrated into the shell via the Shoei ComLink bases, with a Cardo adapter available — nothing hanging off the side. The closure is a stainless-steel micrometric ratchet.
Price: from around €599
The range starts around €599–629 for solid colours, goes up to €729 for graphics and €759 for the MM93 collection. Promotions occasionally drop it below €550.
