The Shoei Neotec 3 is Shoei's premium modular, with dual P/J homologation, a sun visor and ready for the SRL 3 intercom (sold separately), from €669 on shoei.es. It is the reference modular if you want city and touring without compromise: refined and quiet, though not cheap. Score: 9/10.

Shell, weight and homologation

The shell is AIM (Advanced Integrated Matrix) in fibreglass and organic fibres, made in three shell sizes. Weight is around 1,732 g (size M, Bennetts), going up to about 1,826 g with the SRL 3 intercom fitted. Homologation is ECE 22.06 with P/J, so it is legal to ride open or closed — the chin bar has no manual lock.

Visor and sun visor

The main visor includes a Pinlock Evo anti-fog insert, plus an internal sun visor that drops 5 mm lower than the Neotec 2. The interior is removable and washable, and the chin strap is 4.5 mm narrower than its predecessor.

Mechanism, ventilation and noise

The flip-up mechanism works one-handed: a red button releases the two closures and the chin bar rotates smoothly. Ventilation has two chin intakes, two top intakes and one rear extractor. The press describes it as clearly quieter than the Neotec 2, without an official dB figure published.

Communication and price

Its strong point is the integrated Sena SRL 3 intercom (Harman Kardon speakers, Bluetooth and Mesh), fitted inside the shell and sold separately. On shoei.es the range starts at €669 for white or black, €699 for matt colours and €769 for graphics. It carries a 5-year warranty.

Pros and cons

Pros

  • P/J homologation: legal open and closed, no manual lock.
  • SRL 3 integrated: premium intercom, nothing external.
  • Finish: Shoei quality, removable washable interior, 5-year warranty.

Cons

  • Weight: around 1.73 kg, above the lightest modulars.
  • Price: adding the SRL 3 (sold separately) takes it well above the helmet price.

Verdict

The Shoei Neotec 3 is the reference premium modular: refined, quiet and with the cleanest integrated intercom on the market. If you want a modular for city and touring without compromise, it is hard to beat.
