The Shoei X-SPR Pro is Shoei's race helmet, the successor to the X-Spirit III, with ECE 22.06 and FIM homologation and 1,442 g, for around €799. It is a serious track tool for track days; for daily riding, the NXR2 or the GT-Air 3 make more sense. Score: 9/10.
AIM+ shell and 1,442 g
The shell is AIM+, a six-layer high-performance fibre laminate, made in four shell sizes. Weight is 1,442 g (size M, Champion Helmets), around 1,450 g according to Shoei. Homologation is ECE 22.06 + FIM, and the "X-SPR Pro 02" version adds the FIM 2 standard in white and matt black.
Visor
The visor is the CWR-F2R with a 2D shape prepared for tear-offs, a Pinlock Evo DKS-304 in the box and a double visor closure. It is the racing configuration that lets you swap visors quickly between sessions.
Aerodynamics and ventilation
Here is where it shines: an integrated spoiler, vortex generators and a rear stabiliser with fins deliver 3% less drag and lift than the X-Spirit III. Ventilation is the most generous in the range — seven closable intakes and six extractors plus a cheek ventilation system. At around 99 dB it falls in the average band, plenty for a track helmet.
Safety and price: around €799
It includes the E.Q.R.S. emergency quick-release system for the cheek pads and a double-D closure. The price sits around €799. It is a track tool: for pure road use there are more comfortable and quieter options in the Shoei range.
Pros and cons
Pros
- Aerodynamics: 3% less drag and lift than the X-Spirit III.
- Ventilation: seven intakes and six extractors, the most in the range.
- Homologation: ECE 22.06 + FIM, ready for competition.
Cons
- Noise: around 99 dB, average; not a helmet built for silence.
- Use: ~€799, and on the road it loses its point: only track riders really get their money back.
Verdict
The X-SPR Pro is the track helmet for riders who put aerodynamics and ventilation first: 3% less drag and lift than its predecessor and seven air intakes. For around €799 it includes a Pinlock and FIM homologation, but it is still a circuit helmet; for daily riding, the NXR2 or the GT-Air 3 make more sense.
