Alpinestars S-R7: The New Carbon and Aramid Full-Face Helmet, What Do We Know?

Updated onOctober 2, 2026

Alpinestars unveiled the S-R7 (also badged Supertech R7) back in March 2026, its second road-going full-face helmet after the flagship S-R10. Carbon and aramid shell, rotational-impact protection and a price positioned well below the range-topper: here's everything confirmed so far, ahead of its arrival in Spain this October.

Key facts

  • Price: €499.95 for the Solid colourway on Alpinestars' EU store.
  • Delivery: pre-order with delivery confirmed for October 16, 2026.
  • Weight and shell: 1,390 g in size M; carbon, aramid and fibreglass composite.
  • Protection: ECE 22.06 / DOT; rotational protection 80% above the ECE minimum (manufacturer claim, not yet tested by us).

Shell and materials: race-derived construction at a lower price

The S-R7 uses what Alpinestars calls an "advanced multi-composite construction": an outer shell built from pre-impregnated epoxy resin layered with carbon, aramid fibre and fibreglass. Inside, a multi-density EPS liner — seven pieces across six densities — is tuned to manage impact energy differently across zones of the head.

In size M it weighs 1,390 grams, around 150g lighter than the carbon S-R10. Six sizes are available (XS to 2XL), built from a combination of three shell sizes and four EPS sizes, so the helmet stays proportional across the range instead of relying on a single oversized shell for every size.

Rotational protection above the ECE 22.06 minimum

The headline safety feature is a rotational-impact management layer that Alpinestars says lets the S-R7 exceed the ECE 22.06 requirement for oblique impact by 80%. Linear impact absorption is also claimed to beat the standard's threshold by 50%. The helmet is certified to both ECE 22.06 and DOT.

Ventilation, visor and fit

  • Ventilation: 10 ports — 6 intakes (3 on the chin bar, 3 on the crown) with a sliding mechanism, plus 4 exhausts (2 on the chin bar sides, 2 at the rear).
  • Visor: Class 1 optical, 1.6mm thick at the sides and 2.6mm at the centre, tool-free quick-release, compatible with a Pinlock 120XLT insert.
  • Fit system: Alpinestars' patented A-Head system, which lets the rider adjust the height and angle of the helmet on the head without extra parts.
  • Field of view: 220° peripheral, 57° vertical.

When does the Alpinestars S-R7 go on sale, and how much does it cost?

The S-R7 is listed on the official Alpinestars EU store in Solid, A-Core and Zeal colourways as a pre-order, with a confirmed delivery date of October 16, 2026 (checked on October 2, 2026) — that's the date to watch if you're after the launch window in Spain. Official prices for the Solid colourway:

  • EU: €499.95
  • US: $679.95 (around €585)
  • UK: from £449

How it fits into Alpinestars' helmet range

Until now Alpinestars' only road helmet sat at the very top of the market: the S-R10 (from €999, full carbon shell, FIM-level homologation, aimed squarely at track use). The S-R7 brings the same rotational-protection technology and A-Head fit system down into a helmet realistic for commuting during the week and the odd trackday at the weekend, without the S-R10's price tag or its purely competition-focused fit. Our take

On paper the S-R7 looks like a smart move: it brings Alpinestars' rotational-protection tech and A-Head fit system — until now reserved for the S-R10 — down into a much more realistic price bracket. We haven't tested a unit yet, so take the specs above as manufacturer claims for now; we'll update this article with a full hands-on review once the helmet lands in Spain in October.
